'cause donors disapproved of Bernie's views

he shakes out pushkes from Progressive Jews
the senator from WallStreet tops the bill
and scolds the peasants to get on the bus
but no one here's convinced that Clinton will
risk irritating donors to serve us
now she and Trump compete to stoke up fear
and I wake screaming; it could happen here

the disenfranchised march from City Hall
demanding that the delegates give ear
the party that should represent us all
insists if we don't pay, then they don't hear
the Bankers' lobby oversees the planks
and underwrites the party ballyhoo
so Hillary expresses hearty thanks
embracing what they wanted her to do
Bill taught her the trick's to triangulate
but he brought charms to bear that his wife lacks
confronting Trump's campaign of fear and hate
she's prone to bore us by reciting facts
until we overthrow this DNC
this can't be the U.S. it needs to be

when Wasserman Schultz slated the debates
she fretted Bernie might shine in their light
so artfully, she matched the playoff dates
when football viewership is at its height
exposure benefits the underdog
and makes it hard to execute her plan
to blur his message as if in a fog
portraying more an ogre than a man
but Bernie's partisans are energized
they'll cut a ski-day short to catch the show
to tabulate all Clinton gaffes and lies
or any line that smacks of a low blow
no coronation ball awaits Her Grace
