mouthpieces

discarded spokesmen of the Clinton camp
like snowdrifts lining the long road they've come
encumber every policy off-ramp
each choice precluded by earlier ones
the less she says, the more choices abound
but once they've passed her lips, words hem her in
each claim she stakes a tether in the ground
her past forecloses what she can begin
convenient strongmen stick to what they've signed
uncaring what the little people say
their path ahead's just like their path behind
and she aspires to run her ship their way
a clever lawyer delegates the lies
that buy her lee-way to extemporize
