The time has come, the walrus said, to talk...

This time, it's personal; the walrus fumes
Trump wouldn't bomb Iran as he'd advised.
Retired, he's focusing on Trumpty's Doom
his notepads document a thousand lies.
John Bolton longs for the Apocalypse
with Christ triumphantly astride the Earth.
Like Flynn, he goaded Trump, but scored a "miss";
he brings less gravitas than he does girth.
A failed Rasputin couldn't sway his Tzar
and now attempts to cut him down, instead.
But Trump and Pency-poo and William Barr
have put a price of Bolton's hoary head.
America's long nightmare has no end
as long as Barr treats Trumpty as a friend.

"The time has come" the walrus said "to talk"

John Bolton doesn't want to go to jail;
he told Fiona Hill to write notes down.
A trial would find he left a paper trail
disowning policies set by this clown.

John told the House he wouldn't testify--
unless they'd send subpoenas to coerce.
His loyalty's not wholly to one guy

who broke the Persian deal, and made it worse.
Now, Senators opine they ought to hear
first-hand what had transpired behind closed doors.
Though little Bolton says is wholly clear,

he's quite irate Iran's not yet at war.
The Senate--scared to actually try

a president--has yet to tell us why.

Cui bono?

Lev Parnas has a sordid song to sing,
about who stands to lose, and who to gain;
How Trump aspired to make himself a king
extorting criminal help from Ukraine.
Corrupting policy for private ends,
Trump knew Zelensky's up against a wall.
What only Congress has the right to spend
Executives must break the law to stall.
Yovanovich, and Taylor can attest,
Trump held back aid for private benefit.
What Congress meted out is no 'request';

Trump's duty-bound to see Ukraine gets it.
The "drug-deal" Bolton's eager to disown

was documented on Trump's mobile-phone.

insecurity

John Bolton's out; the walrus screwed the pooch;
the lastest axed from Trump's parade of freaks.
Persisting forty times as long as Mooch,
but riv'ling Trump himself in leaking leaks.
The Persian War Mike Flynn has meant to lead

to please his masters in the MEK--
until a figleaf masks the naked greed--
must be deferred (at least another day).
The shopworn plot-line neither thrills nor shocks
we've played this melodrama out before.
He'll join McFarland blowing smoke on Fox--
stock pension-package for a Murdoch whore.
Whoever's next to purr in Trumpty's ear
may get ditched too, before election year.

used

It's time that we re-list the MEK
a "Terrorist Group" like we used to do.
Long years, they've kept John Bolton in their pay;

"our" Foreign Policy's set by their tool.
To frame Iran for tankers they've attacked,

won't fool a Sanders, Warren, or a Gore.
But Trump trusts Fox as if their crap were fact

and means to lead our nation into war.
Obama balked the powers that would use

our military to enact their ends.
But feckless Senators refuse to choose
and Hannity assures Trump that they'll bend.
A president enthralled with shiny bling

can't see the threat from those who'd pull his string.

phony war

The GoodCop/BadCop shtick against Iran
with Bolton as the mad dog on a chain,
was sold to Donald as a clever con
'cause foreign policy's hard to explain.
A scalpel's girlish; Trump prefers an ax
to solve what he's convinced must be a mess.
And Conway's feeding "alternative facts"
that Breitbart ballyhoos like they're real Press.

The deal Obama signed four years before's
anathema because it bore his name.
Trump brandishes the prospect of real war

to get a deal that's "new"--but just the same.
One mis-read telegram would unleash Hell.

So bid the ones you love a fond farewell.

Who'll speak for peace?

John Bolton's no less fervent than before
despite the lives we've squandered in Iraq.
Good times, or bad, he beats the drum for war;
another futile lap around that block.
Our British allies read the same portent;
they're satisfied the Persians still want peace.
No cause at all for war is evident.
But Bolton's lust for blood finds no surcease.
Trump craves a war-time leader's special perks
that SCOTUS found in "Youngstown" long ago.
'Though Bernie scolds that's not the way it works,
our constitution's torch is burning low.
With Mattis gone, adults lost all control.
Another baseless war looks set to roll.

war-time powers

John Bolton's eager for a trade dispute
and fans it fervently towards something more
if anyone's provoked to really shoot
Trump's re-election gets back-lit by war.
Americans are loathe to change their horse
when once embarked the crossing of a stream
incumbents learned that military force
persuades some voters they should keep their team.
Some other mothers' sons must fight, and die
to cram another Trump term down our throat.
Who cares the rationale's a flagrant lie
who didn't bother to get out and vote?
His walrus deems a war'd be just the thing
to arrogate the powers of a king.

war-monger

Why Adelson backs Bolton, one can doubt
it might be 'cause he likes Trump's Muslim Ban
but--odds are--what it's really all about
he want's regime-change, this time in Iran.
It's not enough we killed Saddam Hussein;
his buddy Bibi means to call Trump's shots.
And neither feels the grieving mother's pain
when someone sends her son home in a box.
A world of experts Trump treats with disdain;
no egg-head's gonna be the one he'll choose.
No insight penetrates his shriveled brain;
Trump picks his inner circle from FauxNews.
The oligarchs' agenda's not our own
but Murdoch'd have us kneeling at this throne.
