by voting to secede just like the Brits
a referendum like Scots made before
might lead to an amicable Texit
and maybe they'll take Clarence Thomas, too
as souvenir of the good times we've had
in all these years, there  must have been a few
though memory's replete with what went bad
so let them go if that's what they think best
Abe Lincoln might have got this wrong at first
we're each a burden on the other's chest
democracy's a farce if it's coerced
