concern trolling

Conservatives flog Biden as the man
that Democrats'd be "wise" to nominate.
Big corporations see in him a fan,
who'd block the State that dared to regulate.
Liz Warren has them quaking in their boots;
they haven't faced her ilk since FDR.
A friend of Labor judging their disputes,
and prosecuting sycophants like Barr.
Two parties in the bankers' golden thrall,

abandoned Labor generations past.
If they're not to be stood against the wall,

one must speak for the Left, and hold it fast.
JRubin should rebuild her own failed team;
she's got no writ to steer the Blue machine.

puerile

Trump doesn't listen when a staffer speaks
each memo they prepare's a wasted tree
so some resort strategically to leaks
and hope he'll sop up something from TV
while Tillerson and Mattis compensate
assuring allies he's not wholly mad
he makes new mischief, and they come too late
to sweep up what's been shattered by the lad
too loyal to ignore our empire's fall
they strain to keep Trump focused on the task
but all he seem's to care about's that wall
diplomacy's an awful lot to ask
we've got the moron Mencken'd warned we would
and bought George Orwell's double-plus ungood

Humpty Dumpty

forgive me, Lord! I've come to like John Dean
he makes sense when the standard pundits fail
he reads the omens and knows what they mean
when power-brokers ought to be in jail
this Trump administration's plumbed new lows
the ties to Moscow'd make Dick Nixon blush
depending on how much the big guy knows
this government could tumble in a rush
it's not the first time we've been 'round this block
this level of mistrust's been seen before
but just four weeks have ticked off the new clock
and journalists are girding up for war
impeachment'd do us all a world of good
if Trump won't do what we all know he should

and for my next trick...

to monetize his presidential bid
the Donald needs a pulpit on the air
where he'll be free to josh or lie or kid
and sycophants adore his bozo hair
the White House doesn't have the sort of bling
to hold his focus once out of the race
he'd rather fantasize that he's a king
than heal the party he's lead to disgrace
can Hannity and Limbaugh own that stage?
how big's the audience they'd have to share?
will ears grow numb when three clowns rant and rage?
how much hypocrisy's too much to bear?
three One Percenters taunting the elite
boast silver tongues, but crumbly clay for feet

who's driving?

a nation in the thrall of its elite
elects whomever pundits say it should
forget the organizers in the street
the media will tell you who is good
democracy requires we never blink
digesting all the issues of the day
republics teeter ever on the brink
when plutocrats have masses in their sway
the media are mirrors of our state
reflecting propaganda back at us
inviting us to meekly delegate
our sovereignty and dumbly ride the bus
but patriots chastise a state gone wrong
and still it's We the People who are strong

out of the Blue

Nate Silver missed the Trump phenomenon
and counted Bernie Sanders a lost cause
but Jeb whom he had laid his wager on
snatched grim defeat from Victory's sharp jaws
prognosticators seek clues in the past
to  conjure what occurs next on the screen
but Trump has left the punditry aghast
the bigoted embodiment of 'mean'
this stage requires a hero Bernie-sized
who doesn't lick the donor class's boots
the revolution won't be televised
while pundits bray, we've mobilized the roots
the People want a candidate who's real
to give the workingman a new New Deal
