that we must gird ourselves with wall and tower
and blindly bind our fates to Donald Trump
beyond the office's accustomed power
complete security cannot be had
'though we betray our ev'ry liberty
it's meaningless to rule what's good or bad
if citizens' decisions are not free
is Wisdom found by polling the unschooled?
might not a well-taught king know what is best?
but rulers serve their interests, not the ruleds'
if they can't be dragged down at our behest
democracy's the poorest form of all
